Follow the instructions below to start using your sensor.
Step 1 - Download our free app
For SunSense Pro, the SunSense app is required, but we recommend that you also use it with SunSense One. It simplifies the start-up, and the app contains a lot of useful information. Among other things, you can easily find your skin type (the next step) in the app. The SunSense app is free and can be downloaded here:
Using the free SunSense App (or the table in the One manual (PDF) if you do not use the app) decide on you skin type for your personalized sun exposure recommendation. You can also try the Skin Type Test below to see how it works in the app.

Step 4 - Decide your maximum UV dose
Based on your skin type and the sunscreen factor you prefer using, you can then determine your maximum UV dose. The max UV dose is the maximum amount of accumulated UV radiation your skin tolerates before getting burned.
Step 5 - Wearing the sensor
Clip SunSense One on at the most sun-exposed area of your body (i.e.: t-shirt collar, bathing shorts pocket, bikini top, etc.) such that the sensor eye (front surface) is directed as much as possible towards the sun.
Step 6 - Check your received dose
Check from time to time your UV dose in the sensor display. Is your display reading getting close to your maximum UV dose, decided in Step 2? Then it´s time to put on clothes, or get out of the sun - otherwise, you´re risking a sun burn.
Connect SunSense Pro via Bluetooth with your phone.
Step 5 - Input your sunscreen factor (SPF) into the app
Choose your applied sunscreen factor in the app from the predetermined SPF values.
Step 6 - Wearing the sensor
Clip SunSense Pro on at the most sun-exposed area of your body (i.e.: t-shirt collar, bathing shorts pocket, bikini top, etc.) such that the sensor eye (front surface) is directed as much as possible towards the sun.
Step 7 - Go out and enjoy the sun
SunSense Pro will keep you safe in the sun by giving you real-time updates on your sun exposure status. Every two hours you will get a reminder on re-applying sunscreen. Once you are close to reaching your daily UV dose maximum, you will receive alert notifications on your phone (the max UV dose is the maximum amount of accumulated UV radiation your skin tolerates before getting burned).
